Family Connections is a program that offers services to the families, children, and the mothers and fathers whose lives have been effected by incarceration.  We facilitate a parenting group inside the county jail once a week and provide Case Management services for our participants.  We have an adult mentoring program, Leigh Schuerholz Mentoring Program.  This program services the mothers and fathers in the Rockland County Correctional Facility who might request a mentor.  This mentor visits the parent while still incarcerated to lend their support.  Our program doesn't end there.  We continue to provide services upon and after the parent has been released from the facility.  The mothers and fathers need assistance with DSS, medical services, housing, tx programs both substance abuse and mental health services. The Building Connections for Youth Mentoring Program services the children of the parents who are incarcerated.  We take the children on trips and have pizza parties.  The last trip was to The Universoul Circus.  We provide adult mentors, who must have a backround check before becoming a mentor, for the children.  They communicate in person, online, through phone calls ect.  We have another program called The Parent Child Visitation and Reunification Program.  This program allows the children of the incarcerated the ability to visit their parents.  We transport the children ourselves and supervise the visits. This is a wonderful program that exists in Rockland County.  We can use all the support we can get.
