Can too much information be dangerous for you?  It may not seem like it, but the answer to that question is YES!  This is exactly what happens when you try to quit smoking; the information overload can become very overwhelming.  To be successful in kicking the habit for good, keeping things simple with an easy approach is a good way to keep the frustration from getting out of hand.

Having a set plan in place that helps guide you through out your process and following set rules can help your success rate in trying to quit smoking.  Discipline is your key to you approach, without this you will find it a little difficult to follow through.  So let’s find out some effective methods to quit smoking cigarettes.

Are there certain things such as your surroundings or particular situations which cause you to pick up that cigarette and smoke?  Is it a stress relief in helping you calm down, or contain emotions when they get out of hand?  This is generally the second main reason that smokers continually smoke (the first being the natural addiction to nicotine) Although they both go hand in hand but being able to identify your moods or emotions and finding solutions to them other than smoking is an absolute must.

Another simple yet effective way to help you is your imagination!  Most would call this a ridiculous technique, but in actuality it really is a way to provide you with a greater sense of well being.  This is done by picturing yourself, your health and life in a better state.  Seeing yourself where you should be and where you will be.  Closing your eyes while taking slow deep breaths in a quiet comfortable setting can have a big positive effect on how you see things.  It really does rub off into reality.

If you haven’t already, find a hobby!  Not only is this a must for all people, but I find this to be especially true for individuals who are trying to stop smoking.  This has a HUGE effect on your daily life, how you feel and finding something that really interests you.  This will enable your brain to stay occupied while being able to enjoy its favorite pass time.  This is highly under rated, but I find it to be the most effective method to help the process.  Remember, you must find something that you really enjoy doing.  For example, sports, activities, reading comics, drawing…etc.

Are these a little too simple?  Maybe! But that is the beauty of keeping it simple.  Most would figure that these are a waste of time, but if you combine these natural techniques to help support your current methods to stop smoking you will find that it helps a great deal in being able to cope with your withdrawals while you are in process of quitting smoking.
