The Invisible Parents in our Community

The mothers and fathers who are incarcerated.  The caregivers to the children of these parents.  The incarcerated when they return to the community.  These are the invisible parents.  They need to be acknowleged.  They might not have the parenting skills that others have.  They might not have the resources others have.  90% of these parents are black, african american, what ever nationality they claim. They are our mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers.  Aunts, uncles, cousins even grandparents.  They need our help and guidance to break the chain that has been clamped to their leg.  No more dragging our feet.  It's time to crawl, then walk, then run towards a positive healthy way of life.  To do the best we can do with what we have and learn how to achieve those things we have not yet. It's time to connect our families!
