The mothers and fathers who are incarcerated. The caregivers to the children of these parents. The incarcerated when they return to the community. These are the invisible parents. They need to be acknowleged. They might not have the parenting skills that others have. They might not have the resources others have. 90% of these parents are black, african american, what ever nationality they claim. They are our mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers. Aunts, uncles, cousins even grandparents. They need our help and guidance to break the chain that has been clamped to their leg. No more dragging our feet. It's time to crawl, then walk, then run towards a positive healthy way of life. To do the best we can do with what we have and learn how to achieve those things we have not yet. It's time to connect our families!
Hello Friends, Family, and Candidates,
We all know that as a business venture, the stars have perfectly aligned for ALTF's success. Sports entertainment is the largest revenue producer in the entertainment industry and it's global. There are no other professional Track & Field leagues in existence and there is a pre-existing fan base. We are the only professional track and field league with teams in existence and you'll love what we've done. If you could use a $60,000 payday this year, it's yours, but there is just a little work to be done to get it.
The excitement if building and to accommodate the new interest in our ownership opportunities in the target cities we have scheduled another webinar for Saturday. You are invited to a webinar scheduled for Saturday March 7, 2009 to find out how. If you have already taken advantage of the ownership opportunity, be sure to tell other potential candidates about the presentation because if we do this enough times with your qualified candidates the $60,000 payday this year is just the beginning.
Candidates should be residents of the target cities: Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Memphis, New Orleans, New York, Oakland, Philadelphia, or Phoenix.
Our push to have new candidates in front of a computer for this presentation will move us closer to a $60,000 payday this year, so lets get it done.
Be Blessed,

The Year Of Saying No
It’s the good thing the winter TV season is about to start.
I’ll have “24”, Damages, The Closer, Burn Notice, American Idol and other shows to distract me amid the continuing layoffs, downturns and meltdowns at companies large and small.
If big business keeps failing and flailing, there won’t be too many commercials to skip.
Everyone, it seems, is in the deep end of a pool that just keeps getting deeper.
This makes the word for 2009 “NO”.
Fed Ex said NO to Superbowl advertising for the first time in 12 years.
General Motors said NO too and of course the reason is obvious.
NBC said NO to an ad agency when it wanted to pool eight advertisers to jointly buy at least one :30 spot during the Superbowl. The cost of a half minute spot this year is 3 million dollars. Three Million Dollars!!!
The Superbowl is traditionally the time when fans will spend the extra hundred dollars or two or three to buy a big screen TV. With the uncertainty over the economy, jobs and regular and probably smaller paychecks, most will say NO to that this year.
Oh and did I mention gas prices are going up?
That was the last straw. When I heard that, I knew I would practice the art of saying NO to all the stuff I said yes to in 2008.
I’ll say NO to using the gas in my car to look for a job because I’ll be at home applying online and working the phones.
I’ll say no to the iPhone I was going to get. My 20th century communications device still works.
No to the sales of overpriced dresses, pants, tops and shoes that I don’t really need since I’m mostly unemployed.
No to going out to eat. I’m not a great cook but eating at home is cheaper than those luscious edibles at Applebee’s and other eateries I could afford last year.
Studies have shown that when the economy is bad, people will cut back on most spending except for entertainment. Movies and TV will remain popular distractions and web video that’s either free or low cost will not suffer as much as big ticket items such as cars, homes and the previously mentioned big screen TV. Even the government’s DTV converter coupon program is out of money. This is bad. Bad.
Find me in front of my old TV enjoying my favorite shows, or on my computer watching You Tube, HULU or any new web series or webisodes. I’ll be ignoring the commercials for all the items I want to buy but can’t/won’t and waiting, not too patiently, for this economic armageddon to be over.
And if you think you see a light at the end of the tunnel, it’s probably the train coming at you.

<a href="http://www.noturmommasnews.com">Not Ur Momma’s News</a> is looking for 100,000 Angels to bless and be a blessing. On the straight up ya’ll, this is one of those seat of the pants ideas. But it seems like a good one to us and we’re asking your help to test it. Ya’ll support it, and we’ll all know.
Anyway, together we’ve grown Not Ur Momma’s News to the place it’s difficult to bring to you solely as a labor of love. We need dollars to deliver the technical and functionality features you enjoy and maintain the high standard of excellence you deserve and have come to expect. Now you know we know times are tough, but we gotta ask. Do you have a buck? Yep, that’s all; just $1.00.
Still on the real, while all that cash sounds like fun; Not Ur Momma’s News doesn’t need it all. Our mantra, from the very beginning, has been Pay-it-Forward and we intend to make the 100,000 Angels experiment an opportunity to walk what we talk. So here’s the plan: We’ve been blessed with the support of several Community Organizations, all focused on our babies, Brotha’s Keepa, Unitee Design and Historical Inspirations; we’d like to give them 10% each. I say like, because we haven’t asked them yet. Told you this is on the fly, but somehow we don’t think they’ll say no. In addition, Not Ur Momma’s News will put 10% in trust to kick-start the dream of another entrepreneur, and lastly we’ll draw the names of 2 contributing angels to split 10%. In short, you bless us, the first thing we’ll do is give half back to you. Well…second thing; first thing we’ll do is pay the taxes. Not Ur Momma’s News will publish every contribution received, with kudos and trust me we’ll shout the total from the rooftops.
Okay, we need a timeframe to maintain our focus and January 20, 2009, twelve noon marks the moment of change. So let’s make that our goal date. Together, one at a time, $1.00 at a time, we can affect significant change in a multitude of lives and visions across our community. Together we are Bridge Builders to Our Future and Not Ur Momma’s News believes once again – Yes We Can. Please <a href="http://noturmommasnews.com/ContactUsNUMN.html">Make Your Contribution Now</a> then forward this to everyone on your email list. We can do this thing; we can be the change we want to see. This is a test. If we can pull this out ya’ll, we have a simple formula for creating exponential economic growth community wide – Obama style.
This is the season the spirit of giving rules, and I, personally, want in on the action too.
Did you know I published my first book? Yeah Enigma. I worked on it all this week because I wanted to give it to you. It’s a compilation of some of my best short poetry and prose; I hope it provides you an enjoyable ride on the rollercoaster that is my eclectic mind. I know Enigma will provoke you to think; I pray it leaves you knowing how deeply you’re loved So, please accept a copy of Enigma as a token of my appreciation for your constant encouragement and support and your generous contribution to Not Ur Momma’s News’ 100,000 Angels experiment.
<a href="http://www.noturmommasnews.com">Not Ur Momma’s News</a> is looking for 99,999 Angels to bless and be a blessing, because we knew we could count on you. This has been a test of potential for the Community Unity System; I/we thank you for your participation. We love and appreciate you more than this bunch of word crafters could ever say. Just Sayin

There is an old song with the line, “Let’s get it all out in the open.” I keep hearing Bobby Blue Bland, but it could be Johnny Taylor. Any of ya’ll know? Anyway,…I’ve gone from troubled to angry and just a little bit skeered ya’ll. Can somebody please clarify for me just who the… we have become? Not just as black folks but as human beings. Just who was it, which god, that delivered the call to manifest hate, inequity and hypocrisy?
Ya’ll do me a favor? If you have a mirror handy, please go get it. I want to ask you a couple of questions, and I want you to be able to look into your ownself eyes when you answer? Got your mirror? Good; thank you. Now, one more thing first, I want you to take a moment and visualize God – whoever/whatever that means to you. Hold on to your vision, intensify it; consume it and be consumed by it. Now, through the eyes of that image, let’s take a look at our socio-political mindsets and behaviors.
There was a time, in most of our life times, when excellence was not only the standard but also the vision, when our children were loved, guided, nurtured and disciplined by every adult in their sphere. There was a time when we all earnestly prayed that the face of evil in no way resembled our own and cheered equally as earnestly win the victors’, the heroes’ did. My brothers, my sisters, America who have we become?
Yes America. We are America. She could never have obtained or maintained greatness sans our captive blood, sweat and tears. She could not have obtained dominance and respect with out our freely given ingenuity, intellect, loyalty and blood, sweat and tears. We struggled, fought, prayed and died for our part, our claim to the great American Dream and in scant 40 years have bought into, part and parcel, the great American nightmare.
Is this what Thurgood and Martin had envisioned or are they whirling like dervishes in their graves? Were/are integration and equality simply a license to assimilate the nature of fear, hate and self-serving/self-righteous elitism? Did Little Bobby and Fred did George, Jonathan and untold thousands give their passion and their future for our right to become the haters instead of the hated? Were their deaths simply the precursor to the demise of our communities and our culture(s)? Did their valiant combat win us but the spoils of fools? Did so many leaders give their last breath to our becoming blind and vicious sheep following the divide and conquer inequality their sacrifice was intended to destroy?
Are you still visualizing your personal conceptualization of God? Good let’s break all the rules here and talk about that for a minute. Up front, I know little about Islam, so if God, as revealed by those scriptures is a god of hate, ya’ll will have to let me know. Until then, I going to assume that God reveals God in the Koran as God reveals God in traditions I am more familiar with, as Love. The Bible says God is love; the Wiccan Reed says all with love. It is love that balances the human heart with an Egyptian feather, and love that both covers and protects against evil. It would be deceptive to say that love is unconditional. Though love never changes it demands continued and willing stretching and aching, falling and getting up, repenting and growing from any and all who would walk in fellowship. Take a look in that mirror.
Evil abounds; there is no doubt of that. Evil rules by the deception so many have/are falling prey to. We have adopted and engaged evil’s rules in the delusion evil can be beaten at its own game, but it you throw fuel on a hungry fire, what happens? This ain’t rocket science people; this is Jackson 5 – ABC. Consider for a moment what would happen if you offered that same non-judgmental love to those deemed farthest from the mark? What if you showed them by your actions that even rolling in the mud and eating pig slop doesn’t relegate one unworthy of a ring, robe and welcome home party? For those of you who know this story, I need to point out to you that didn’t nobody say, “boy you stink go take a bath. And by the way, don’t use my nice clean water.” <a href="http://www.noturmommasnews.com">Read More</a>

The just shall live by faith.
Hebrews 10:38 NKJV
Walking by faith is not easy. When you make up your mind to trust God the odds are usually stacked against you. Remember Noah? When he built the ark there had never been rain! The outcome isn’t always what you expect. Walking by faith doesn’t mean your problems suddenly evaporate. Sometimes faith doesn’t change your circumstances, it changes you by giving you the tenacity to hang in there when the check doesn’t come in the mail, the doctor says, It’s malignant, your spouse asks for a divorce, the children are running riot, or the place you’ve worked in for 30 years closes its doors. Faith gives you the fortitude to endure these things, confident that God is working on your behalf. Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. (Hebrews 11:1-2 NIV).
So walking by faith means is trusting in the faithfulness of God, following in the footsteps of ordinary people who did extraordinary things, and using your faith, because it is the currency of Heaven. When the Bible says, The just shall live by faith, it doesn’t mean little sporadic bursts. No, it’s talking about a lifestyle! Anybody can go the first few rounds in the ring; it’s when you’re knocked down in the ninth that you need the faith to get back up and keep fighting. When the plane you’re flying on encounters turbulence, you don’t throw away your ticket or bail out, you sit still and trust the pilot. Trust God! So discount your circumstances, dethrone your doubts and start walking by faith!
The healthcare establishment of the United States is willfully and secretly committing a travesty that makes the infamous Tuskegee Experiment all but inconsequential by comparison. This alarming accusation is the crux of A Modern-Day Tuskegee by Dr. David W. Moskowitz. He further asserts, “As in Tuskegee, patients are paying with their lives. Unlike Tuskegee, scientific curiosity isn’t the motivation, just greed.” Shocking indeed.
In 2002, Dr. Moskowitz published a method to reverse diabetic and hypertensive kidney failure. He declares his treatment works for whites, blacks, and Hispanics, i.e. the entire world. “Currently, 100,000 patients go on dialysis in the US each year. My method could prevent 90% of whites, and 95% of African Americans and Native Americans, from losing their kidney function.”
Dr. Moskowitz’ article goes on to explain that he has presented his research to a broad spectrum of the medical research community and while his findings have garnered private accolades they have been systematically buried from general medical exposure. Dr. Moskowitz tested his therapy for 9 years on 1000 patients. “The head of Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, with over 100 million patients, told me that my 1,000 patients weren't enough.”Come back when you have 100,000. Dr Lawrence Agodoa, called my data "beautiful" in a private conference call in early 2004. He said the rules of the NIH, his employer, refused to let him endorse a company. That's the same response the American Diabetes Association gave me, even though they partially funded the underlying research.”
Dr. Moskowitz believes he is being ignored because of the financial threat his treatment constitutes to Charity and Research institutions serving the diabetic community. “Only later did it dawn on me that they'd be eliminating 90% of their own jobs along with 90% of their budget, which would terrify any bureaucrat. Apparently, no non-profit wants to repeat the mistake of the March of Dimes, which cured their raison d'etre in the 1950s, and has been a shadow of its former self ever since.”
The indictments made in “A Modern-Day Tuskegee” are provocative and dangerous, even more so because for many they are completely believable. Memories/knowledge of the Tuskegee Experiment has instilled distrust akin to terror of the medical community amongst African Americans for decades. In the midst of catastrophic inaccessibility to healthcare, this present allegation could ignite a breach of trust that could potentially take generations to repair. Our President and our neighbors are faced with reviving a system in imminent collapse. A credible charge of blatant corruption from a system whose primary interest already appears to be profit not people could well prove the back breaking straw.

Submit the words “Blacks,” or “African Americans,” in combination with “Long Tail” to the Google or Yahoo search engine, and discover quickly how finding the most relevant topical information sometimes can be elusive even for the Internet savvy. One might reasonably conclude that although African Americans represent 12% of the U.S. population, or 38 million individuals, they are nevertheless often a long-tail play when it comes to online search. “Long tail” is a reference to a phrase coined by writer Chris Anderson in his October 2004 article of the same title in Wired Magazine. The hotly debated premise of Anderson’s article is that the Internet has lowered the costs of distribution to the point that it now makes sense for merchants to address the pent up demand of niche groups for better tailored goods and services.
Supply and Demand or Heads and Tails?
Most would agree it is relatively easy to search by Black or African-American in general and find rich content. However, try searching “Black owned restaurants in Chicago” for example and you are likely to be largely disappointed or even worse misled. Given that there are 22 million African Americans online, it begs the question why topical search about them has not advanced past its present state? My Black Networks, LLC (MBN), a social media network company based in Austin, TX, believes there are three primary forces at play.
· First, although recent studies suggest the digital divide between black and white households has closed, MBN states the relatively late adoption by blacks may explain the historical neglect to create the kinds of centralized taxonomies characteristic of Web 1.0. “Incentive to distribute content will naturally be lower if a sufficiently large and accessible audience to receive it does not exist” states Elbert McQuiller, co-founder of MBN. However, MBN concedes that the convergence of the development of Web 2.0 applications such as blogging software, the commoditization of PC’s, the wide spread availability Web-enabled cell phones, and the emergence of the first African American major party nominee for President have resulted in a recent and substantial narrowing of the digital divide.
· Secondly, MBN believes the lack of advertising targeting African Americans is also partially to blame. According to a Nielsen study published in January 2008, overall advertising spend targeting African Americans reached $2.3 billion during the 12 months between October 1, 2006 and September 30, 2007. This figure, however, represents less than 1% of total U.S. advertising dollars. MBN maintains that the relative allocation gap in online media is even greater. This places African American publishers and content at a competitive disadvantage. Mr. McQuiller states “The availability of content is partially dependent upon the ability of publishers to monetize their sites and advertising revenue continues to be part of the dominant business model.”
· Finally, search engines rely primarily on key words to interpret data. Although progress continues to be made in terms of more nuanced, semantics search, the algorithms driving search engines continue to give greater weight to word matching and literal or denotative meaning. Publishers who desire to target the African-American market must optimize their sites in ways that increase their likelihood of discovery. For example, the website of a “Black-owned restaurant” will probably need to include keywords or tags that identify it as such, if the goal is to be easily discovered by someone searching for those types of restaurants.
Vertical Branding Meets Vertical Search
MBN is launching its portal site www.myblacknetworks.com in an effort to address the fragmented state of the data that it believes is culturally salient to its target markets. MBN describes itself as an ecosystem of informational websites targeting unique segments of the African, African-American and Caribbean community or the African Diaspora. MBN begins its quest by launching The MyBlack™ Urban Vertical. The first phase of the launch includes unique websites for 20 cities with large African-American populations. Each site includes the MyBlack™ brand and offers relevant national and local news, a Black-owned business directory, small business resource center, a wealth-building section, an events section, as well as special interest areas for lifestyle, health and romance. Each city site is accessible from the portal and is also connected to a shared social networking platform. MBN eventually expects to expand to include over 200 major cities around the globe including major urban centers in the U.S., Africa, Brazil, Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe. The portal site will include links to such destinations as myblackchicago.com, myblacklagos.com, myblackriodejaneiro.com, myblacktoronto.com, myblackkingston.com, and myblackparis.com.
MBN’s objective is to facilitate vertical search by its target markets by employing vertical branding of relevant content. In the near future MBN hopes to partner with a vertical search engine or create its own. MBN believes that the opportunity for social networking among the African Diaspora is ripe given the current and projected growth in internet-enabled mobile devices in its emerging online markets and believes that MyBlack™ can be a dominant player in the space. When asked what MBN intends to do after reorganizing the Web, Mr. McQuiller shrugs and replies “Watch the tail wag the dog.”

THANK GOD WE HAVE WORLDVENTURES!
Today, as our nation faces some of it's most trying times, many individuals have found themselves questioning the future. From the multi-trillion dollar loss in retirement funding to the massive number of foreclosures the financial woes of Wall Street have echoed in our ears. Perhaps you have been one of the many who have said, "What am I going to do? What if I lose my savings? What if we don't have enough retirement money? What if it all gets worse? THANK GOD WE HAVE WORLDVENTURES!
THRIVING IN THE MIDST OF FEAR AND UNCERTAINTY!
As I hear these questions in the hearts of so many leaders in our country, I can see the evidence of FEAR creeping in to steal power of what makes this country so great!
THANK GOD WE HAVE WORLDVENTURES!
America is the greatest country to live in and offers the greatestamount of freedom, opportunity, and potential. Yet, like a theif sneaking in the back door, fear seems to have made residence in the hearts of so many individuals in this time of financial uncertainty in our nation. Despite the Chaos at Wall Street, this country is still a place of Amazing Opportunity For us it's "THE PERFECT STORM" That's why we need to help everyone we can. For those who PANIC, they will be on the losing end of this season of transition for our country. If they get on board NOW they will have a season that will change their lives forever! For those that look into the muck and mire and see the opportunity, they will be able to find the diamonds in the rough.
For EXAMPLE: While some folks are complaining that this is a "terrible time to sell a home", others are seizing the moment by saying, "this is a GREAT time to buy!" Every challenge comes with AWESOME opportunity. So how do you weather this recent financial storm and make sure that you don't get caught on the short end of the stick? How do you position yourself to partake of this land of opportunity like so many other entrepeneurs will THIS SEASON?
UP YOUR PERSPECTIVE
Look For The Good In Everything: Two young twin boys were being examined by researchers as a result of their very distinctive personalities. One boy was an eternal optimist, always happy and full of cheer. The other boy was an unfortunate pessimist, who could'nt seem to find a moment's peace or happiness dispite his fortunate surroundings.
Researchers placed the pessimistic boy in a room full of every toy a boy could wish for.Meanwhile the optimist boy in a room of horse manure. After a short five minutes, the pessimist began to cry with great emotional outbursts. Researchers opened the door and said "Son, what is the matter?" You have every toy in here a boy could want."
The pessimist replied. "There are so many toys, I don't know which to play with." In the other room they heard sqealing and laughter, they peered in the room of horse manure to see the boy jumping up and down in the manure and throwing it around in the air with glee. They quickly opened the door and said, "Boy what on eaarh are you so happy about?"
The boy replied with great excitement, "With all this manure, there is surely a pony in here somewhere!!!!
This story shows us the power of perception. How do you view the "manure" around you? If you grumble in pessimism, you will miss the opportunities.
ELIMINATE FEAR
WHAT IS FEAR? It is the False Expectations Appearing Real in our lives. It is presuming the worst. exspecting grave misfortune. Fear is an anticipation that something bad is going to happen. Worry is the partner of Fear. It is the manifested bloom that emerges when fear takes root in our lives. As worry grows, anxiety, stress and a host of other symptoms bloom and radically change our perspective, our health, and our ability to think clearly.
Even when the world at large is in "crisis mode," don't let fear rule your heart. By eliminating fear, you will not only see more clearly, operate more efficiently, be more open to creativity, and have a better outlook, but you will also be adding years to your life and peace to your soul.
THANK GOD WE HAVE WORLDVENTURES AS AN ANSWER TO HOW TO HELP OTHERS NOT WORRY ANYMORE!
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST
GIVE THANKS
Have an ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE!
NO MATTER WHAT THE NEGATIVE EMOTION MIGHT BE THAT TRIES TO STEAL YOUR JOY!
It might be as simple as saying Thank You God for my Children. Thank you for my home. Thank you for my shoes. Thank you for my health. Each one of us has something to be grateful for Today. Even if the world seems to be falling apart there is still much to appreciate. Stop Now. Close your eyes...Instead of focusing on the chaos and turmoil around you, allow your mind to list at least 10 things you have to be thankful for right now.
Let your life be a catalyst of encouragement, hope, and change for someone else!

On August 10, 2008, the New York Times online edition published an article entitled “Is Obama the End of Black Politics?” The article, often peppered with anecdotally incoherent non sequiturs, asserted that African American politicians of Obama’s generation symbolize an end of the “Black Power” politician. The writer, Matt Bai, suggested that the archetypal “Black Power” politician could be discerned by his role as a “deft conjurer of America’s racial demons.” He also blithely asserted that Obama’s candidacy exposed a larger generational rift between Black politicians who ascended to power “post-civil-rights,” and those “who rose to political power in the years (immediately) after the civil rights” and “came almost entirely from the pulpit and the movement.”
Conjuring False Dichotomies
MBN does not wish to explore all the internal inconsistencies in Mr. Bai’s article. However, the founders of MBN are compelled to note that the article conjured images of false dichotomies and dissensions. It attempted to divide based on age (civil rights generation versus post civil rights), class (upper middle-class versus working poor), education (Ivy League versus seminary), and political organization (relatively new social media networks versus the NAACP). The meta message of the article was that young, upwardly mobile, well-educated, Web 2.0 savvy Blacks offer proof of the obsolescence of Civil Rights Movement in general, and the political leadership that rose from it in particular. Mr. Bai eagerly welcomed the emergence of a new “postracial” political Eden.
Struggle for Civil Rights Continues
The founders of MBN ponder the color of the sky in Mr. Bai’s new post racial Eden; undoubtedly rose-colored. MBN cites the statistics below as sobering evidence that the Civil Rights Movement continues to be as relevant as ever.
· According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), as of the end of August 2008, Black unemployment stood at 10.6% for Blacks aged 16 and over compared to just 5.4% for Whites aged 16 and over. The unemployment rate for Black men alone in the same age group was 10.8% compared to just 5.2% for White men alone.
· According the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) Reporter, Volume 1, 2008, “65 percent of blacks and Hispanics leave school with a high school diploma, and minority graduation rates are still substantially below the rates for non-Hispanic whites. Contrary to estimates based on the status completion [NCES] rate, we find no evidence of convergence in minority-majority graduation rate. Exclusion of incarcerated populations from some measures greatly biases the reported high school graduation rate for blacks.”
· According to the Economic Policy Institute (EPI), in an article written by Algernon Austin on June 11, 2008, entitled “ Subprime mortgages are nearly double for Hispanics and African Americans” the writer cited “[A]n analysis by the Center for Responsible Lending found that even after taking into account individual credit scores and other characteristics, Hispanic and African American borrowers were more than 30% more likely to receive higher-rate subprime loans. 3” In a similar article entitled “The Subprime Swindle,” written by Kai Wright and published in The Nation on June 26, 2008, it was observed that “the ‘mortgage meltdown’ looks less like a market hiccup than a massive strip mining of hard-won wealth, a devastating loss that will betray the promise of class mobility for tens of thousands of black families.”
· According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study entitled “Subpopulation Estimates from the HIV Incidence Surveillance System-United States 2006,” published in Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report on September 12, 2008, “[ O]f the estimated 54,230 new HIV infections in 2006, 46 percent occurred among blacks, though blacks constitute about 12 percent of the US population.” The incidence rate among Black males was 5.9 times that among White males, and the incidence rate among Black females was 14.7 times the rate among White females.
A Unified Call and Response
MBN believes that it is obvious from the facts cited that the civil rights struggle, at all times a human rights struggle, continues to present unique challenges for Blacks. For this reason, MBN is declaring November 3rd, 2008 as the 1 st Annual MyBlack Unity Day. MBN is soliciting all conscientious people, especially Blacks, to observe the day by engaging in an activity that serves to uplift the Black community. Consider joining or renewing a membership with the NAACP. Make a donation to the local chapter of the National Urban League. Volunteer your time at a local food bank or give blood to a local blood bank. Perhaps you could make an effort to support a local Black business. The activity is really only limited by your imagination. Enlist a group of friends and/or relatives to participate in an activity. Working as a group reinforces the message that we are a unified community. Whatever activity you choose, please email MBN at myblackunityday@myblacknetworks.com and let us know how you demonstrated your unity on the day. The founders of MBN intend to volunteer their time with the local campaign office for Barack Obama.
MBN is in the process of developing a site at www.myblackunityday.com . On November 4 th we will begin posting your messages to the site in order to let the world know that regardless of the outcome of the presidential election, Blacks are unified, the Movement has evolved, but not ended, and victory has already been secured. Thank you and God Bless.
