    So, there had to be developed a way to return the corpses to their home village and this is the origin of the Corpse Walkers. Two men would act as a team and would take it in turns to mount the corpse on their back to walk across the countryside back to the home village of the deceased. The degree of strength and fitness required for such a job can only be imagined, not to mention the mental fortitude to endure the proximity to the dead for day after day of heavy, sweaty work.

    Inevitably, many myths and legends drew up around the work of the Corpse Walkers. Some people believed that they were able to bring the corpse back to some kind of life (or unlife) and cause it to walk along under its own power. Others thought they kept the corpse’s joints limber somehow and actually walked them with their legs tied together like wearing a kind of astronaut suit. Most people preferred to stay away from them altogether, since their association with death made them fey and unpopular and, quite possibly, the recipients of some kind of supernatural power.

    

    Corpse Walking was essentially antithetical to Communism and, so after the end of the Chinese Civil War in 1949, the livelihoods of the Corpse Walkers became threatened and, in some cases, so too were their lives. Under Communism, family attachments are stripped away and geography should not matter. Indeed, attachment to the dead itself might be considered a bourgeois decadency, especially among the weak and poor. And so the practice disappeared. Might it ever reappear, now that money is available to stimulate people to meet demand for consumer goods and services.

    If you haven’t already, find a hobby!  Not only is this a must for all people, but I find this to be especially true for individuals who are trying to stop smoking.  This has a HUGE effect on your daily life, how you feel and finding something that really interests you.  This will enable your brain to stay occupied while being able to enjoy its favorite pass time.  This is highly under rated, but I find it to be the most effective method to help the process.  Remember, you must find something that you really enjoy doing.  For example, sports, activities, reading comics, drawing…etc.

    Has everyone noticed how every time Africa is brought up in the media? it's a always a sad picture: hungry children with swollen bellies, surrounded by flies and walking bare feet....And if it's not that, then it's images of civil wars, rebellion, aids or some other sordid story.

    Why is the media focusing on the worst side of Africa? It's funny how it is not like that in other continents, that always baffles me. In Africa or Europe, media never show tarnished images of America while they do exist. Not everyone is living in the suburbs and not everyone is having their three healthy meals in the US.

    Having lived in France, Senegal and the US I know first hand the realities of each continents and although poverty is dominant in Africa. It is not to the extent portrayed in the media, believe it or not most middle-class families in Africa have domestic help! They don't cook or clean, don't sweep or mop...they have domestic help!

    Growing up I didn't even know how to make my own bed, I didn't start washing clothers or cooking until I came to the US. Even though, there were much more opportunities for me in the States professionally.

    I am trying to send the message out there that there are paved streets, fantastic resorts and hotels, great restaurants and movie theaters in Africa...regardless of what is shown on tv. You might already know this if you've travelled there, otherwise if the TV set is all you have to go by then you're probably not considering going.

    I am just trying to reduce the discomfort of many black folks when africa is brought up on tv or during conversations. It doesn't have to be this way, Africans or African-Americans not wanting to be associated with Africa in any way shape or form...that's pretty bad. Yet it is a widespread condition.

    Let's change this through dialog and spreading the truth.
